Happy (Post) Valentine's Day!/ Recap

Hey everyone!

I hope you had a very happy Valentine's day! I was going to post this earlier but I have been having internet problems so please forgive me.  This has probably been the best Valentine's day I have had so far, for a number of reasons.  The number one reason is of course, because I have a boyfriend.  Yes as clique as it is I was looking forward to Valentine's day for a couple of weeks.  No it's not because I wanted to spend all day with him and have him buy me stuff and take me out to dinner and all that. It's because I am truly happy being with him and I just wanted to express my happiness on Valentine's day. As some of you may know (especially if you follow me on instagram) I am in a 1090 mile long distance relationship.  My boyfriend goes to school in New York and that is were we met last summer, and yes I have not seen him in 6 months but honestly I don't consider him being far away because he is always there when I need him.  On Valentine's day we had a nice, 6 hour, skype date.  So here's how the day went:

Photo: Even a thousand miles apart my Valentine still got me flowers. Thank you Michael Lazarus! <3

Even a thousand miles away my Valentine still managed to send me my favorite flowers.  I was NOT expecting that when I came back to my dorm room

Valentine's Day gift from Mom! I can't believe she knew my favorite Disney Princess. Can't wait to eat ice cream out of this.

And lastly, my Valentine's Day outfit.  Even though I stayed inside talking on the computer I still wanted to look cute so I wore my black with white polka dot dress.  I love the way it sucks in my waist .  I also got it while thifting! Yay thifting!  I have my hair up in a bun which, by the way, have you noticed that a popular hairstyle right now is a braid that goes into the bun. (Frozen inspired maybe?)

Anyways I had a wonderful Valentine's Day and I hope all of you did to.

Love,
Rachel

Important Update/ Be The Match

Hi everyone,
I know this is not what I normally post but I have something important that I wanted to share with you.  First off, I'm sorry for the delay on posting, my uncle recently passed away from liver cancer so I have been in mourning for a couple of days, so I hope you can understand.  Which brings me up to my important message.  As you probably know my father passed away from lung cancer when I was 18 which is part of the reason I started blogging to cope.  Well, when I turned I wanted nothing but to help everybody who was suffering from cancer and other life-threatening diseases.  So on my 18th birthday I registered with Be The Match, a bone marrow donor registry where you can donate healthy bone marrow to a needy patient.  So why am I telling you this?  Because last November, three days before my birthday, I received a call saying I was a match for a cancer patient, who is the same age my father was when he passed away.  I am beyond excited to help this stranger get back to normal life and be with his loved ones again.  I wanted to share this because I am having the procedure soon and I want to take you on this incredible journey with me.  Also, I want to take this opportunity to invite you all to join Be The Match registry.  It's a simple sign up and they walk you through every step of the way.  Can you imagine if everyone that reads my blog registered? Think of all the lives we could potently save!  I understand that a lot of people are not able to registry and that's okay, just help spread the word.  Think of this a belated birthday present to me.  Like the American Cancer Society says, "Let's create a world with less cancer and more birthdays."  Remember, to the world, you may be one person, but to one person, you may be world.

Love,
Rachel

Welcome to 2014!

Hello Everyone!

We are now in 2014 which means it's that wonderful time of when we all make New Year Resolutions.... some easier than others.  Honestly I don't really believe in making New Year Resolutions because I believe you should try to improve every day and not wait until the beginning of the next year to make a promise to yourself.  But I thought I would throw in a couple just to see if I could keep it.

My New Year Resolution is of course blog more.  I have a lot of more outfit ideas and I am also going to start managing more social medias so go check those out at the links below.  I'm going to try to blog at least once a week. Hopefully with my busy schedule coming up I can still be faithful here.

My own personal resolution is honestly to stop saying, "I'm sorry" all the time.  I have this habit of when something is wrong or if a situation is bad I automatically say I'm sorry even if it has nothing to do with me.  A example would be when I was talking to my boyfriend not too long ago when he was telling me one of my Christmas gifts was coming in the mail soon.  But the problem was that the package wouldn't be delivered until after Christmas and more into mid-January.  He was very upset that it was going to take so long for me to get it and when I saw that he was upset about the situation I automatically said, "I'm so sorry"  He replied with, "Why are you sorry?"  That's when it hit me.  Honestly, I would probably walk into a wall and say I'm sorry.  So I'm trying to work on that and I'm kind of struggling

So those are my resolutions, hopefully you made some reasonable ones.  Below is one of my favorite videos from my favorite film company Wong Fu Productions about resolutions so check that out:

Also I started a instagram and here is my first post with my tinker bell hair:

I hope you all have a wonderful year

2013 Rewind

Looking back at this past year and looking forward to 2014!

SWEETEST thing that happened to me this year: Last January this guy who I was interested in took me to see "Cinderella" on stage live in Nashville.  It was such a amazing experience and the best first date I have ever been on.  And no we did not end up together but we're still best friends.  Sometime the sweetest things are with people who were just suppose to be with you in that moment and you can create a beautiful memory.

WEIRDEST thing that happened to me this year: Last March I went to spring break in Gatlinburg with a bunch of friends and I received a fortune card from a woman who "claimed" to be a fortune teller.  The card said that in the near future I would meet my soulmate AND my future husband and apparently they're two different people.... (I cannot confirm nor deny if this has happened)

MOST DANGEROUS thing I've done this year: Traveled to NYC while I was interning during the summer and went down to Times Square and Central Park.  I walked 7 miles that day and went there all. By. My. Self...... sorry Mom you're just now finding out about this...

GREATEST ACCOMPLISHMENT: Of course you already know the answer to this one... going to NY for my internship.  First time being away from home by myself. First time in NY all by myself.  Longest time being away from home.  Probably my greatest accomplishment of my life so far...

GREATEST PERSON I met this year..... sorry to get so sappy but while I was in NY I met this incredible amazing guy who really just made everyday special and he later became my boyfriend :) This is a story that deserves to be told but I think I'll save that for 2014.

I hope to see you in 2014, I'll be blogging A LOT more and have so many more ideas.

2012/2013 I was just figuring it out... 2014, I hope to share my story.

New Hair!

Hello Everybody, I have some exciting news to share with you.  If you have seen my previous post then you have seen pictures of me and my very long red hair.  I have been growing out my hair all my life and have never dyed it, highlighted it, or cut it.  I always liked keeping it natural because I didn't want to fuss with roots, coloring, going to the salon, etc.  Plus I'm proud of have my red hair because it's the rarest hair color and people ask me all the time if it's colored and I love saying that it's natural.  But last week I decided to have a small change done because I felt that since my birthday is coming on Wednesday it could be my own b-day present to myself so here it is:

I got swoop bangs!  I also cut about a inch off the bottom.  I'm so happy with the way it turned out.  It's a fresh new look and I love playing with it.  The second picture is a hair style I did today where I twisting my hair on the side of my head and pinned it into place.  It's so edgy and I think it fits my personality better.  It was good to take the first step into trying something new especially since I have never parted with my hair before.  Happy Early Birthday Present to me!

My birthday will be November 27th and I have a very special post so stay tuned!

Love
Rachel

Fall Favorites

Hey everyone,
Sorry I have been MIA and I'm probably late on this post but I have been extremely busy with finals and it was also the one year anniversary of my father's death last Monday so please forgive me.

Fall is my favorite season.  I love the change in the air and I was finally able to go on a shopping spree for warmer clothes.

This is probably my favorite outfit I bought.  I bought a cream sweater dress with matching brown belt.  I'm wearing my brown Ugg boots and I made a orange bow to put on the back on my bun.  We also went thrifting where I got the brown and polka dot purse for a dollar!

My favorite color combos for fall are most likely browns, creams, and oranges.  Warm colors are a must.

Hopefully I can do favorite fall makeup looks later this week.

Well, that all I have for now.  Stay turned for more fall/winter looks

Love,
Rachel

My Halloween Costume!

Hey everybody!  It's finally time for the reveal of my Halloween Costume. Look at the pictures below to see if you can guess what it is.

Did you guess it?  I am Vanellope Von Schweetz from Wreck-It Ralph!

I had so much fun making this costume over the last few weeks. The jacket was originally plain white until I dyed it the appropriate color.  I used pink shoelaces for the strings attached and stitches.  The skirt was just something I found at a thrift store that was perfect for this costume.  The stockings were probably the hardest part.  They were plain white and I painted them with nail polish and Sharpies.  And now the best part of the costume: the hair.  I basically went to Walmart and grabbed a bunch of 98 cent boxes of candy and superglued them all the hairclips and bobby pins.  As you can see I used: peppermints, Mike and Ikes, gummy bears, Reese's, and Starburst.  I made the licorice bow out of some fabric and wire.  And I did not dye my hair, I just used black hair spray from the party store.

This was one of most fun costumes I have ever had for Halloween.  Comment below, what did you dress up for as for Halloween.  Sorry to cut this short but I gots to go.  Halloween dance to attend.

Happy Halloween

Love,
Rachel

One last thing.....

I met this guy during my Halloween festival in my home town.  I asked, "What does the fox say?"  But he didn't know....   Also, doesn't my dog Brutis look so cute?  He loved that hat.  :)
