I designed this shirt inspired by my love for cherry blossoms and the Asian culture. I arranged the flowers on the shirt to look like a branch starting from the bottom left corner. I love wearing it with a white skirt and wearing my hair in a traditional Korean up-do.
I fell in love with the Asian culture ever since my best friend introduced me to anime my freshman year of high school. From Japanese Anime, I also became interested in the fashion showed in a lot of anime. I later started expanding my knowledge in the Asian media which ultimately led me to my obsession with Korean dramas such as Boys Over Flowers and Playful Kiss.
Sakuras, or cherry blossoms, to me are the most delicate flowers. I think that if I was a flower based on personality I would be a cherry blossom. I have never actually seen a cherry blossom tree but someday I hope to.
You can say my hair is inspired too. The style is based on the character, Chihiro, from the Studio Ghibli film Spirited Away. I grew up on Studio Ghibli and was totally inspired by the amazing film. But it wasn't easy to style my hair like Chihiro. It takes about 30-45 minutes, half can of hairspray and a lot of bobby pins. But never the less I love the style.
I hope you like my shirt design. I'll hopefully be posting more of my designs which I hope you appreciate. In the meantime, have a happy spring!
Love,
Rachel
